National Guard Youth Challenge Program

NGYCP is a youth academy charter school program based in San Luis Obispo, California. It provides at-risk youth with a true “second chance,” motivating them to turn their lives around and become successful and productive members of our society. Mockingbird’s president helped develop and implement a key public education campaign designed to increase the visibility and understanding of this program in California. She cultivated critical corporate, governmental and organizational relationships and helped expand the program’s potential student pool. This campaign supported NGYCP’s ambitious efforts to open a second academy in Los Angeles. Dedication ceremonies for the new Los Angeles academy were held in mid-October 2007, with students set to begin school in January 2008.
